This Tropical Bonsai originally from the Mediterranean and Asia, the Dwarf Pomegranate is a popular choice for a great looking Bonsai. Pomegranates have opposite leaves and grow oval shaped flowers, later on followed with yellow/red fruits. Because pf this oposite leaf growth when you cut the branch two will grow back in its place. The trunk twists naturally, making it an attractive Bonsai to grow.
Care: The shrub will grow outside, sun or shade, or inside by a sunny window outside. Once temperatures drop to around 40F at night place the tree indoors, by a sunny window. Keep the tree damp, do not let it dry out totally. If you want the tree to grow healthy flowers and fruits, use a fertilizer with high phosphorous and high potassium from spring to late summer. If you opt for fast growth remove flowers and use a normal fertilizer. Prune back to one or two sets of leaves. If you want the tree to flower wait with any pruning until after blooming. Repot Pomegranate Bonsai every two years in spring.
Propagation by sowing in spring or by using cuttings in summer.
