DESCRIPTION

The Campache (Haematoxylum campechianum) is an uncommon tropical tree that makes an especially interesting bonsai thanks to its fine compound foliage, woody character, and ability to develop attractive branching with regular pruning.

This specimen is planted in an approximately 8-inch ceramic bonsai pot and measures approximately 16 inches tall, including the container. Its slender trunk has natural movement and an established branch structure, giving the tree a graceful appearance while still leaving plenty of opportunity for future development and refinement.

Campache responds well to pruning, making it a rewarding species for bonsai enthusiasts who enjoy shaping and developing their trees over time. Its small leaflets help create good visual proportion, while continued trimming can encourage denser branching and a more refined canopy.

PLANT CARE

☀️ Lighting ☀️

Campache performs best with plenty of bright light and direct sun.
For strong, compact growth and healthy foliage, keep the bonsai outdoors where it can receive several hours of sunlight each day.
If the tree has been growing under nursery shade, gradually transition it into stronger direct sunlight to help prevent leaf scorch.
Although it can be displayed indoors temporarily, Campache is primarily an outdoor bonsai and should not be treated as a permanent houseplant.

💧 Watering 💧

Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the soil begins to dry.
Allow water to drain completely from the bottom of the container. Avoid allowing the soil to remain constantly saturated, but do not leave the tree completely dry for extended periods.
Because bonsai pots are shallow, always monitor moisture more frequently during warm and windy weather.

🌥️Weather☀️

Campache is a tropical species and prefers warm growing conditions.
Protect the tree from frost and freezing temperatures. In colder climates, winter protection will be necessary when temperatures begin to drop.
